For instance, when we encounter information inconsistent with our schemas, such as an engineer who is a wonderful cook and extremely charming (traits we don’t expect in engineers, as a rule), we do not alter our schema for engineers. Rather, we may place such people in a special category or subtype consisting of people who do not confirm the schema or stereotype.

A few days ago I’ve taken a look at some CDs I bought when I was young, and since YouTube.com has a lot of the old music videos I’ve spent quite some hours watching them
.
One of the probably most annoying songs ever is Doop. Although it is just fast Charlston style rhythms it was quite successful and one of the songs I remember quite well. It is on the second CD I’ve ever bought (Bravo Hits 6 – some of you may remember…) and it is available on YouTube as well:

A few weeks ago my dad turned 50 and last weekend we had a big birthday party in our barn. Where 20 years ago about 100 bulls had been fed, on Saturday 130 people celebrated. And since my dad is a big fan of Bavaria the decoration was white-blue instead of red-white (which would be the hessian colors
). I was really surprised how some trees, wreath and table cloth can make a big room look quite inviting.
But the best thing of this party was the bavarian beer I must admit. We had normal beer and wheat beer on tap and after 10 month of american “beer” it tasted even better
.
I’m back in Germany for over 4 weeks now and my life starts to become normal again. I have spent the last weeks doing a lot of administrative stuff like transferring my classes from Boulder to my university here. Finally, the transfer is complete and I’m happy
. I’m basically done with classwork now and have just one more exam and my final thesis before I (hopefully) get my masters degree here, too.
The last exam in Darmstadt is in social psychology, my minor subject. I already ordered a textbook and printed out the lecture slides; so I just have to start studying. But since the exam is at the beginning September there is still much time left, although exam dates tend to approach quite fast…
Meanwhile CU Boulder updated the transcripts and the degree is now officially shown.
The official diploma is sent by mail sometime soon but I guess it takes some more weeks since the mail from the US seems to be routed thru Auckland, New Zealand?!?
