Facebook meets Euro2008

Currently the Euro2008 (2008 UEFA European Football Championship) is going on and Facebook (the international StudiVZ) users seem to be quite interested. Facebook has a nice application which counts words used in user profiles – the Facebook Lexicon.

The Euro2008 obviously has a big influence on the number of country names within Facebook profiles and it’s quite obvious which teams do not play anymore…

International Harvester

When driving thru Utah or Wyoming and trying to listen to a radio station, often only country music stations are receivable. Thus I listened to some songs, amongst others to “International Harvester” (in German: “Internationaler Mähdrescher”) from Craig Morgan. I think this song is quite funny when you take a look at the lyrics:

Chorus:
Cause I’m a son of a 3rd generation farmer
I’ve been married 10 years to a farmer’s daughter
I got 2 boys in the county 4-H
I’m a lifetime sponsor of the F.F.A.
Hay! That’s what I make
I make a lotta hay for a little pay
But I’m proud to say
I’m a God fearin’ hard workin’ combine driver
Hoggin’ up the road on my a p-p-p-plower
Chug a lug a lugin’ 5 miles an hour
On my International Harvester

Anyway, I must admit I kind of like this song and I want to become an international harvester driver, maybe…

Wild Wild West

From beginning of May until beginning of June my parents visited me in the United States and we did trip thru the wild west. We started in Las Vegas, went to many national parks in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and California. The whole trip was over 10000km and ended in San Francisco. After another 3 days in Boulder, CO, I finally left the US and went back to Germany.

During the trip I took about 2000 pictures – the best 300 can be found in the following Picasa Gallery:

Hello world!

This is the first post on my blog number 4! After several years and 3 other blogs I’ve decided to just use this blog and, as you may have noticed, switch to English. A lot of my friends I’ve met in Boulder don’t speak German but all of my friends in Germany should understand English.

Feel free to leave comments or write me if you have questions, want to say hello or experience problems with this blog. An email address as well as a short description what I’m doing can be found on the “About Me” page.

That’s it! Add this blog address to your bookmarks or RSS reader if you want to know what’s going on in my life.
