I wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2010!
Ich wünsche Euch allen Frohe Weihnachten und einen guten Start ins neue Jahr 2010!
End of November I went to visit Boulder again. After 1.5 years since I had left it was great meeting many people again and walking around on campus and in the city
I also managed to visit a few things I didn’t make it to during my first time in Boulder. I went to visit Hammonds Candy Factory in Denver, the US Mint, Red Rocks Theater as well as Pikes Peak, Cave of the Winds and Garden of Gods in Colorado Springs.

I’ve been to Norway last week to attend the CANOE Summer School about Events and Publish/Subscribe Systems. It was an interesting week, I learned a lot and met many cool people
. The event took place at a hotel in Sundvollen, about 40km north of Oslo. Norway has an amazing landscape and the hotel is located next to a lake and mountains. After a week of talks, poster sessions and discussions I went to Oslo and stayed there over the weekend to do some sight seeing. Oslo is a pretty young city with a lot of museums. But what impressed me most was the possibility to catch a boat, just like a bus, to go to the small islands located in the Oslo Fjord. Another advantage of Oslo: while Germany was suffering from heat, it were about 20° Celsius in Norway. Pretty comfortable when walking around
.
Finally, here are some pictures:

Last weekend there was an event called “Darmstadt unter Strom”. Here are some pics from the final show:
Hey folks, this blog is not entirly dead (yet
). It’s been quite a while since I wrote the last entry. But I don’t wanna bore you with many details what has happened the last months. Just the most important thing (I guess): I have a job
. I’ve started working at the Databases and Distributed Systems Group at Technische Universität Darmstadt in April. Now I’m working in a project called ADiWa and do research in the area of Event-Based-Systems.
Finally there is winter again. The last days it snowed a lot and it’s freezing cold outside – around -20°C. But sun is shining and thus it looks beautiful outside with snow all around. Here are some pics I took in Darmstadt right in front of the Computer Science building:
Ich wünsche Euch frohe Weihnachten, ein paar erholsame Tage und einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr!
I wish you Merry Christmas, some relaxing days and have a nice ride into the New Year!
Last weekend I finally moved back to Darmstadt. I moved out of my old room in July 2007 before I went to Boulder. Now that I’m about to start working on my Master thesis I moved back since it takes too much time to go to Darmstadt by train each day. In addition I don’t live with my parents anymore
.
After searching for about 3 weeks I found a nice room in an apartment I share with another guy. It’s pretty close to school and the light rail stop is just across the street. Fitness training is included, too; the apartment is fourth floor and there is no elevator. Thus I get at least some training eacg day when I go up and down the stairs.
Three weeks ago the summer officially ended for me because I went skiing for four days. I’m pretty sure the amount of skiing I got last season is unreachable this winter. My first day of skiing last year was end of October. So for not living near the mountains anymore 4 days of skiing in November are a pretty good start. We went to Sölden (Austria). Since there is a glacier, snow was not a problem and we had good conditions and nice weather 80% of the time
.
